Nationals' Max Scherzer (hamstring) to pitch bullpen session on Thursday
Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer will go through a bullpen session on Thursday, reports the Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales.
With Stephen Strasburg starting Game 1 against the Chicago Cubs, Scherzer should pitch Game 2 of the NLDS if he looks good on Thursday. There's still the chance that, even if Scherzer passes the test, he'll be held out until Game 3. In that case, Gio Gonzalez would start Saturday's Game 2.
Over 31 regular season starts, Scherzer ranks 3rd in WAR (6.0) and 4th in FIP (2.90) among all big league starters. He went 16-6 while logging 200 2/3 innings on the season.
