Brewers place Jimmy Nelson (shoulder) on DL
The Milwaukee Brewers placed pitcher Jimmy Nelson on the 10-day disabled list with a right shoulder strain.
The Brewers have ruled Nelson out for the remainder of the season after he suffered a strained rotator cuff and partial anterior labrum tear in his throwing shoulder. So, basically, this is just a technicality. The real decision left for Milwaukee is whether or not Nelson will need surgery for his injured shoulder. He was set to receive a second opinion in Los Angeles on Wednesday but there hasn't been a report on how the visit went.
The 28-year-old Nelson was enjoying a career year prior to the injury. He has posted a 12-6 record with career-bests in FIP (3.05), strikeouts per 9 (10.21) and walks per 9 (2.46). His 3.06 nERD ranks 9th among all pitchers in 2017.
