Jake Marisnick (thumb) headed to Houston for further examination

Houston Astros outfielder Jake Marisnick left Wednesday night's game with a right thumb injury, according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart.

What It Means:

Marisnick suffered the injury when he slid into second base in the top of the third inning last night. He was removed from the game and replaced by Derek Fisher, who played left as Cameron Maybin moved to center. Today, manager A.J. Hinch said that Marisnick flew back to Houston for examination and that the injury could be serious. If that's true, Maybin is the most likely candidate to be Houston's everyday centerfielder going forward.

After going 1-for-1 last night, Marisnick is slashing .246/.323/.504 with 16 home runs and a .352 wOBA on the year. He's made 63 of his 66 starts in center field.
