Jason Bourgeois batting second for Reds Thursday
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jason Bourgeois has been moved up to the second spot in the team's batting order for Thursday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Bourgeois (.288 on-base percentage) will follow Billy Hamilton (.271 on-base percentage) on the lineup card. This means that the sum of the on-base percentages of the top two batters (.559) is lower than the on-base percentage Joey Votto has posted in the second half (.568).
There really is not much reason to be as enthused about Bourgeois as the Reds seem to be. He is 33 years old, and the last time he had an on-base percentage above .300 over at least 100 plate appearances was in 2011. Our algorithms see him posting a .217/.280/.261 slash the rest of the season.
