Astros' Carlos Correa (thumb) could take BP this weekend
Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa could start to take batting practice this weekend, according to the Houston Chronicle's Jake Kaplan.
As he continues to progress toward a return from a torn ligament in his left thumb, Correa is now taking swings off a tee. The next step is for him to take regular batting practice, which could happen by this weekend. If that's the case, Correa could beat his original timetable by a couple weeks. Until then, Alex Bregman and Marwin Gonzalez will split time at short.
numberFire's algorithms have Correa down for 2 home runs, 7 RBI and a .300 average in 47 plate appearances the rest of the way this season.
