Blue Jays acquire Teoscar Hernandez in deal with Astros
The Toronto Blue Jays will acquire outfielder Teoscar Hernandez from the Houston Astros in the trade for starting pitcher Francisco Liriano.
The Blue Jays also yielded Nori Aoki in the deal. Hernandez was unable to crack the Astros' big league roster this season, but he should have the opportunity to prove himself in Toronto. The 24-year-old outfielder posted a .279/.369/.485 slash with 12 home runs, 44 RBI, 54 runs scored, and 12 steals in 347 plate appearances (79 games) this season for Triple-A Fresno.
Over 41 games for the Astros last season, Hernandez slashed .230/.304/.420 with 4 homers, 11 RBI, and 15 runs scored in 112 plate appearances.
