Stephen Strasburg (elbow) placed on Nationals' disabled list

The Washington Nationals placed starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg on the 10-day disabled list with a right elbow nerve impingement.

What It Means:

The issue presented itself during Strasburg's start this past Sunday, but he's only expected to miss one turn in the Nationals' rotation. Top-100 prospect Erick Fedde will be called up from Triple-A Syracuse to take Strasburg's place on Saturday versus the Colorado Rockies.

Strasburg is 10-3 (20 starts) this season while recording a 3.25 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 28.1 strikeout percentage (K%) over 121 2/3 innings. Without yet accounting for his move to the DL, numberFire's models project him to turn in a 3.40 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 25.3 K% in 76 2/3 innings over the remainder of the year.
