Cardinals' Adam Wainwright (back) lands on the disabled list
St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright has been placed on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to July 23, with back stiffness.
Wainwright hasn't shown any signs of discomfort, and dealt 7 2/3 innings in his last start, so it would be a surprise if this wasn't a pretty short stint on the DL.
The 35-year-old Wainwright is sporting a 4.31 SIERA through 20 games in 2017, and before this disabled list news broke, numberFire's models project him for a 4.52 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 74 innings over the remainder of the season. Don't expect those projections to change by too much unless he misses extended time.
