Nick Markakis not in Atlanta's starting lineup versus Cubs
Atlanta Braves outfielder Nick Markakis is not in Wednesday afternoon's starting lineup versus the Chicago Cubs.
Danny Santana will draw the start in right field and bat sixth versus Cubs southpaw Mike Montgomery. It's likely just a day off for Markakis, whose solo blast on Tuesday night accounted for the Braves' only run in a 5-1 loss to the defending World Series champs.
Markakis is slashing .277/.354/.389 with 5 homers, 47 RBI, and 48 runs scored in 395 plate appearances (92 games) this season. numberFire's models project Markakis to record a .279 batting average with another 4 dingers, 28 RBI, 28 runs scored, and 253 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
