Cubs' Kris Bryant (ankle) to be sidelined for the weekend, may land on the disabled list
Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant (ankle) is expected to be out of action "at least through the weekend", per Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Bryant made an early exit on Wednesday with what has been called a mild ankle sprain, and he's not expected to suit up this weekend, while the team did not rule out a possible disabled list trip. Look for Tommy La Stella to start at third base over the weekend.
Bryant has opened 2017 slashing .264/.395/.520 with a .386 wOBA, 16 home runs and 32 RBI, and assuming he doesn't miss extended time, numberFire's models project him to bat .281 and to tally another 16 home runs and 48 RBI in 339 plate appearances over the remainder of the season.
