Cole Hamels gives up seven scores in return for Rangers
Texas Rangers pitcher Cole Hamels allowed seven scores on eight hits over 4 1/3 frames while taking a no-decision in a 15-9 loss to the Cleveland Indians on Monday.
It was Hamels' first appearances on a major league mound since April 26 due to a right oblique strain. He struck out just one and walked four before a four-run fifth inning ended the southpaw's evening. Next on the docket is a road start against the Chicago White Sox.
Through six starts this season, Hamels is 2-0 with a 4.38 ERA (5.65 xFIP), 1.32 WHIP and just a 10.3 strikeout percentage across 37 innings. He owns a 23.2 percent strikeout rate for his career.
