Brandon Barnes' double and home run help Rockies top Braves
Colorado Rockies outfielder Brandon Barnes hit a double and a home run Wednesday as the Rockies defeated the Atlanta Braves, 6-3.
Barnes was a triple short of the cycle as he went 3-for-4 with two RBI's and two runs scored. The homer was a two-run shot in the eighth that helped the Rockies pad what had been a one-run lead.
The 29-year-old outfielder has struggled overall this year, posting a .261/.326/.360 slash over 234 plate appearances. Although he has cut his strikeout rate from last year, his hard-hit rate has also dipped down to 26.2 percent with a 17.1 percent soft-hit rate. Our projections see him hitting .246/.317/.351 the rest of the way.
