Giants acquire pitcher Sam Dyson from Rangers
The San Francisco Giants acquired relief pitcher Sam Dyson from the Texas Rangers for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Dyson was designated for assignment by the Rangers after a horrific start to the season. The veteran reliever started the year as the Rangers close but was quickly removed from the role after blowing his first three save opportunities. He will have a chance to hit the reset button on his career by joining an equally struggling Giants' bullpen.
Dyson is 1-6 with a 10.80 ERA in 16 2/3 innings pitched this season but is coming off a 38-save 2016 season where he posted a 2.54 ERA in 70 1/3 innings pitched.
