Cardinals' Kolten Wong avoids major damage to elbow
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong's left elbow showed no major structural damage, an MRI taken on Monday revealed.
Wong is dealing with discomfort in his non-throwing elbow caused by broken scar tissue. The 26-year-old second baseman plans on being activated from the 10-day disabled list as soon as he's eligible. Paul DeJong is starting at second base for the Cardinals on Tuesday night and will bat seventh versus right-hander Kenta Maeda and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Across 157 plate appearances this season, Wong is slashing .278/.378/.414 with 16 RBI's and 18 runs scored.
