Erasmo Ramirez moving into Rays' starting rotation
Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Erasmo Ramirez will move into the team's starting rotation in place of recently demoted Blake Snell.
The move was widely assumed, but manager Kevin Cash confirmed it on Monday. With the Rays having an off day this week, there is no need for a fifth starter immediately, possibly leaving Ramirez in the bullpen this week. The two options for his next start will be either Friday versus the New York Yankees or Tuesday versus the Los Angeles Angels.
Ramirez has made one start this season, going five innings while allowing one run and two hits with five strikeouts against the Detroit Tigers on April 20.
