Rangers' A.J. Griffin shuts out the Padres on Tuesday

Texas Rangers starting pitcher A.J. Griffin tossed his second career shutout on Tuesday as he blanked the San Diego Padres in an 11-0 win.

What It Means:

Griffin allowed just five base runners all game long (four hits, one walk) and needed only 104 pitches to get through all nine innings. The right-hander has been brilliant in his last three starts, allowing just one run over 20 innings pitched. He will look to stay hot as he faces his former team, the Oakland Athletics, in his next start.

Griffin is 4-0 with a 2.45 ERA but is in line for a bit of regression as he owns a 4.26 xFIP and opponents hold a .200 BABIP through 29 1/3 innings pitched this season.
