Former Dodgers closer Eric Gagne signs with Long Island Ducks

Former Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Eric Gagne has signed with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League, per Chris Cotillo of SB Nation.

What It Means:

The 41-year-old Gagne proved he still had something left in the tank when he was consistently hitting 95 mph with his fastball during the World Baseball Classic. If he performs well with the Ducks, he could impress big league teams enough to get another shot. His former team, the Dodgers, reportedly have interest.

The 2003 Cy Young Award winner owns a career ERA of 3.47 with 187 saves and 10 strikeouts per nine innings in 643 2/3 frames over 10 seasons.
