Red Sox won't have David Price (elbow) face live hitters this week

The Boston Red Sox will not have starting pitcher David Price (elbow) face live hitters, as planned, this week.

What It Means:

Price did not have a setback, but the Red Sox do not want to rush the starting pitcher as he recovers from elbow discomfort. He will continue to play long toss and participate in bullpen sessions. Price still has a few hurdles to clear before returning the Red Sox rotation. He has been without a timetable since the start of the elbow issues in March.

numberFire's algorithms project Price to record a 3.43 ERA and 1.16 WHIP this season once he does join the rotation.
