Drew Pomeranz dominant in debut, Boston dismantles Baltimore

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz was spectacular on Tuesday in his return from the disabled list, twirling six innings of one-run ball in an 8-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.

What It Means:

It appears Pomeranz has put his spring training troubles behind him as he allowed only four hits and walked one while fanning six. The one charged run came via Chris Davis, who Pomeranz allowed on with a leadoff single in the seventh before being pulled. Next up is a date with the Tampa Bay Rays this weekend at Fenway.

numberFire's metrics expect the 28-year-old southpaw to record a 3.84 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 23.0 strikeout percentage over the remainder of the season.
