Cardinals announce three-year deal with Yadier Molina

The St. Louis Cardinals signed catcher Yadier Molina to a three-year contract extension.

What It Means:

The extension starts in 2018 and is worth $60 million, making Molina the highest paid catcher in the game. While it is a lot of money for a 35-year-old player, Molina is the heart and soul of the Cardinals and is coming off a season where he hit .307 in a career-high 581 plate appearances.

Our models project Molina for a .286 batting average with six home runs, 50 RBI's, and 51 runs scored in 513 plate appearances.
