Ricky Nolasco

Ricky Nolasco will take Angels' mound Opening Day

Los Angeles Angels pitcher Ricky Nolasco has been announced as the club's Opening Day starter.

What It Means:

Nolasco twirled a solid 3.52 ERA over four Cactus League starts this spring, but the 34-year-old right-hander isn't an ideal number-one for any club's rotation. Matt Shoemaker, Garrett Richards, Tyler Skaggs and Jesse Chavez fill out the rest of the Angels' staff.

Nolasco is projected to go 9-12 over 176 2/3 innings this upcoming season, according to numberFire's metrics, while recording a 4.18 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 18.4 strikeout percentage.
