Multiple teams interested in free agent reliever Eric Gagne
"Multiple teams" are interested in relief pitcher Eric Gagne after he touched 95 mph while pitching for Canada in the World Baseball Classic Saturday, SB Nation's Chris Cotillo reports.
Cotillo writes that there has been "buzz" at the WBC over Gagne and that the former National League Cy Young winner's comeback attempt is "legit." The report states that the San Diego Padres are one club that's "at least monitoring" Gagne, but the reliever "has a few teams on him after private workouts." Gagne is 41, but this will be fascinating to watch.
Gagne hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2008. That season, Gagne pitched 46 1/3 innings for the Milwaukee Brewers, assembling a career-worst 4.22 SIERA, 18.7 percent strikeout rate, and 10.8 percent walk rate.
