Tanner Roark taking the mound for Nationals in Game 2 Saturday
Washington Nationals pitcher Tanner Roark will start Game 2 of the National League Divisional Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.
Manager Dusty Baker is electing to go with skill over strategy in Game 2. Despite the Dodgers' MLB-worst .213 batting average against left-handers this season, the superior Roark will get the call Saturday, instead of southpaw Gio Gonzalez, who will now toe the rubber in Game 3 on Monday in Los Angeles. Fellow lefty Rich Hill is starting for the Dodgers.
Roark spun a 2.83 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and career-high 20.1 strikeout percentage across 210 innings of work for the Nationals this season.
