Ian Kinsler

Tigers taking on Minnesota without Ian Kinsler (concussion)

Detroit Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler (concussion) will not play Thursday.

What It Means:

Kinsler is currently in the MLB's concussion protocol, meaning he needs to be symptom-free for 24 hours in order to be available. The Tigers have a doubleheader Thursday, so it'll cost Kinsler two games. He hasn't played since Sunday due to the concussion symptoms, but said he felt good after running, playing catch and fielding grounders Thursday morning. Expect Kinsler to be back Friday night to open up a home series against the Kansas City Royals.

It has been a good year from the dish for Kinsler, slashing .277/.335/.469 with a .345 wOBA and .192 ISO through 638 plate appearances. He also has 26 home runs on the year -- his best mark since 2011.
