Twins' Joe Mauer might not play until Wednesday
Minnesota Twins first baseman Joe Mauer might sit out until Wednesday because of nagging soreness in both quads.
The Twins are facing a flurry of southpaws over the next few days, so with Mauer dealing with a quad injury, it looks as if the team is set to give him some time to heal. James Beresford is starting at first base and hitting seventh against the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.
Mauer owns a .269/.368/.401 slash with a .332 wOBA and .132 ISO in 557 plate appearances this season. His 13.5 walk percentage and 16.0 strikeout percentage are both above his career averages.
