Rays' Matt Duffy to undergo season-ending Achilles surgery
Tampa Bay Rays infielder Matt Duffy will undergo surgery on his left Achilles tendon this week, which will end his season.
Duffy has been playing through the lingering injury, and with the Rays out of contention, the hope is that he will be ready to go for spring training in 2017.
Duffy has been unimpressive from the dish this year, slashing .258/.310/.357 with a .292 wOBA and 0.099 ISO through 366 plate appearances.
