Yulieski Gurriel manning the hot corner for Astros

Houston Astros designated hitter Yulieski Gurriel will start at third base for Monday's game against the Oakland Athletics.

What It Means:

This will be Gurriel's first field action since joining the Astros, as he's served exclusively as the designated hitter when he's played. He is 5-for-14 (.357) with two doubles and two RBI's across his first six games in the big leagues. Normal third baseman Alex Bregman will serve as the designated hitter on Monday.

It's a tiny sample size (16 plate appearances), but Gurriel has hit well so far in the majors, posting a .406 wOBA. The Astros could use a boost, as we currently give them just a 13.8 percent chance at making the playoffs.
