Chris Sale outdueled, White Sox get sliced by Seattle
Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale allowed three runs and struck out 14 batters in a complete-game loss to the Seattle Mariners on Friday.
Sale didn't walk a batter, but Felix Hernandez went 7 1/3 while allowing only one run in Friday's pitchers duel. Franklin Gutierrez hit a homer off Sale in the second, while Adam Lind hit an RBI double in the fourth, but other than that the White Sox southpaw was on his game Friday, just not as much as King Felix. Sale's next start will come in Detroit on Wednesday.
Sale fell to 15-7 on the year after Friday and he owns a 3.14 ERA and a 25.5 strikeout rate across 177 2/3 innings pitched this season. His 1.00 WHIP is close to a career high, however, his xFIP of 3.63 is also the highest mark of his career.
