Cardinals' Lance Lynn (elbow) moving rehab to AA Springfield
St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Lance Lynn (elbow) is set to make a rehab start Wednesday with Double-A Springfield.
Lynn will likely throw three innings, or around 50 pitches, whichever comes first. Last Monday, he made his minor league rehab debut, throwing 1 2/3 scoreless innings with High-A Palm Beach. After the outing, Lynn did not experience any abnormal discomfort in his right elbow, which has been surgically-repaired. His recovery from Tommy John surgery has been miraculous so far, and come mid-to-late September, it's possible that he'll be an option for the Cardinals.
Lynn posted a 3.03 ERA and a 3.90 xFIP in 175 1/3 innings last season, while recording a 22.24 strikeout percentage (league average was 20.39 percent). He had a 3.1 fWAR in 2015, the third straight season with a fWAR of at least that total.
