Scherzer pitches seven shutout inning in Nationals win
Max Scherzer pitched seven shutout innings while striking six batters and allowing five hits as the Nationals beat the Marlins 1-0.
Scherzer now has a 2.22 ERA, 2.86 xFIP, and 10.32 strikeouts per nine. This performance is not all that surprising coming against a Marlins team that ranks 29th in wOBA against right-handed pitching at .289. Our numbers project Scherzer to have a 0.83 WHIP for the remainder of the season, which is fifth best among our projections.
