Mariners place James Paxton (elbow) on disabled list
The Seattle Mariners placed pitcher James Paxton on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 8, with a bruised left elbow.
During his start on August 7, Paxton was hit in his pitching elbow by a comebacker and is still dealing with some discomfort. This injury is something the Mariners will want to be cautious with. Ariel Miranda -- and his 6.00 ERA in nine innings this season -- will replace him in the rotation on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Angels.
Paxton is sporting a 1.51 nERD on the year, and his 3.75 SIERA is his best since his four-game rookie year in 2013. We currently project him to post a 4.37 ERA in 31 innings over the remainder of the season.
