Lucas Duda

Mets' Lucas Duda (back) must rest for a month before re-evaluation

New York Mets first baseman Lucas Duda (back) was told by Dr. Robert Watkins that he will need to rest for 30 days before being reevaluated.

What It Means:

When asked about a potential return for Duda this season, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said, "It doesn't look good." The 30-year-old first baseman had been running, swinging and throwing as he recovered from a stress fracture in his back, but he suffered a setback this week.

Duda is slashing just .231/.297/.431 with a .312 wOBA in 145 plate appearances this season, but had been driving the ball well, evidenced by seven home runs and a .200 Isolated Power. Our models currently project Duda to have a .314 wOBA, three homers and nine RBI's in another 70 appearances at the plate if he returns this season.
