Yasiel Puig (hamstring) available off Dodgers' bench Tuesday
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig (hamstring) is available off the bench Tuesday, manager Dave Roberts said.
"To me it's not to the point where I want him in [the starting lineup]," Roberts explained to reporters on Tuesday after observing Puig run around the bases. This is likely a "break glass only in case of emergency" type of situation for Puig, who has appeared at the plate just once (as a pinch-hitter) since tweaking his right hamstring last Thursday.
Puig has seen his production fall off with each year he has been in the majors, currently hitting .255/.316/.376 with a .304 wOBA in 297 plate appearances this season. His -0.28 nERD ranks 249th in the majors.
