Kyle Gibson fantastic in Twins' win over Red Sox
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Kyle Gibson delivered a great performance against the Boston Red Sox Friday night, allowing just one run on two hits over eight innings.
Gibson gave up a leadoff homer to Mookie Betts to start the game, but allowed only one hit and nothing more over the next eight innings. He walked only one batter and had six strikeouts to make for one of the better starts of his career. It makes it even more impressive that he did it against the Boston offense.
Gibson now owns a 4.67 ERA and 1.39 WHIP across 71 1/3 innings pitched this season. Our models project him to post a 4.55 ERA with a 14.60 strikeout rate over 49 1/3 innings remaining this year.
