Kevin Jepsen

Twins release right-hander Kevin Jepsen

The Minnesota Twins released reliever Kevin Jepsen.

What It Means:

Jepsen made it through waivers unclaimed, after the Twins pushed him off of their 40-man roster on July 3. He opened the season as the team's closer, but converted just 7-of-11 save opportunities and posted a 6.16 ERA in 30 2/3 innings, costing himself a job.

Jepsen's 5.33 xFIP was not much better than his ERA, and his 15.60 strikeout percentage this season is on pace to be a career-worst. We didn't expect things to get much better for Jepsen over the remaining course of the season, projecting him to post a 5.21 ERA and a 16.70 strikeout percentage prior to the news of his release.
