Teams showing interest in Braves' Erick Aybar

Multiple general managers "have touched base with the Atlanta Braves showing interest" in shortstop Erick Aybar, according to Jim Bowden of ESPN and SiriusXM.

What It Means:

Aybar has been terrible at the plate this season, slashing just .223/.278/.281 in 248 plate appearances, but he's still hitting .303/.376/.421 since he returned from the disabled list on June 12. The 32 year-old veteran will be a free agent at season's end and it likely won't cost much to acquire him.

Aybar's .241 wOBA ranks second worst among hitters with at least 240 plate appearances this season, and his -13.9 UZR/150 is fifth-worst among shortstops. Our models project him to hit .244/.285/.311 with a .261 wOBA over the remaining course of the season.
