Pirates' Eric Fryer exacts revenge on St. Louis with three RBI's
Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Eric Fryer got revenge on his former team Tuesday, going 2-for-4 and notching three RBI's in a 5-2 defeat of the St. Louis Cardinals.
This was Fryer's first start with the Pirates after being claimed off waivers Saturday from St. Louis. He made a good first impression on Pittsburgh fans, notching a RBI single in the fifth frame and then tallying a two-run double in the sixth inning. With Francisco Cervelli currently on the shelf, Fryer could log a lot of time behind the plate.
Fryer has been stellar from the plate this year, posting a .376 wOBA and .381/.422/.452 slash in 45 plate appearances. Our models currently forecast some regression and project him to record a .280 wOBA over the remainder of the year.
