Kris Bryant leaves Cubs' game following collision
Chicago Cubs third baseman/outfielder Kris Bryant was pulled from Monday's game after an outfield collision with center fielder Albert Almora Jr.
Despite the collision, Bryant still managed to make the catch and remained in the game to finish the top of the fifth inning. However, Matt Szczur pinch-hit for Bryant in the bottom frame of the inning. The Cubs are calling the injury a contusion and it doesn't look to be serious. He can be considered as day-to-day. Before leaving the game, Bryant hit his 24th home run of the season, which currently ties him for the most in baseball.
Bryant is having an outstanding season, slashing .279/.373/.575 with a .397 wOBA in 357 plate appearances. His 3.00 nERD is 11th best and his 4.1 fWAR is tied for fourth-best. Our models project him to hit .270/.358/.489 with 14 home runs and a .365 wOBA over the remaining course of the season.
