Angels' Andrew Heaney to undergo Tommy John surgery Friday
Los Angeles Angels pitcher Andrew Heaney will receive Tommy John surgery on Friday, ending the 25-year-old's season.
What It Means:
Heaney received stem-cell treatment in April, in hopes that he wouldn't need to go under the knife, but that didn't seem to cause any improvement, leaving surgery as his only option.
Heaney only pitched one game this year, but through 141 big league innings (24 starts), he is sporting a 4.18 SIERA and 17.8 percent strikeout rate.
