Donovan Solano sitting Thursday afternoon for Twins
Minnesota Twins infielder Donovan Solano is not in the lineup for Thursday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Yonny Chirinos and the Tampa Bay Rays.
Solano will sit after going 0-for-7 with 3 strikeouts in the first two games of the series. Alex Kirilloff will take over on first base and Jorge Polanco will be the Twins' designated hitter. Willi Castro will move to second base while Michael Taylor will return to center field and bat ninth. Castro will bat leadoff and Polanco will hit third, with Carlos Correa cleaning up for the club.
Per numberFire's MLB Heat Map, the Twins' implied total is second-lowest of the day at 3.36 and the game total is a pitcher-friendly 7.5. Chirinos has a nice 2.79 ERA, but his 4.96 xERA suggests that may be misleading. The righty also has a laughably low 9.7% strikeout rate that ranks at the bottom of the majors.
