Aledmys Diaz absent for Athletics Wednesday afternoon
Oakland Athletics infielder Aledmys Diaz is not in the lineup for Wednesday afternoon's series finale against right-hander Roansy Contreras and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Diaz went 2-for-4 and scored a run on Tuesday in a rare easy win for the Athletics, but he will take a seat less than 24 hours later. Kevin Smith will cover shortstop in place of Diaz and bat ninth.
