Tommy Edman (abdomen) sidelined Friday for Cardinals
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Tommy Edman (abdomen) is not in the lineup versus right-hander Tony Gonsolin and the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.

He will be held out for at least one game of the Cardinals' series with the Dodgers. Oscar Mercado will make another start in the outfield Friday and bat ninth. Andrew Knizner will enter the lineup to catch for Steven Matz and bat ninth. Willson Contreras will be the designated hitter and bat fifth.
Mercado racked up 33.6 FanDuel points on Thursday while going 3-for-4 with a double, 2 stolen bases, and 3 runs scored. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Cardinals' implied total is 4.09 and the game total is 8.5. Gonsolin has a 1.42 ERA and 0.95 WHIP this season, with a 21.1% strikeout rate and 7.9% walk rate.
