Matt Wieters

Matt Wieters starting third straight game at catcher for Orioles

Baltimore Orioles catcher Matt Wieters will start at catcher Thursday against the Houston Astros.

What It Means:

That's only significant because it's his third consecutive start behind the plate. Wieters hasn't started three games in a row at catcher since April of 2014. That means Wieters is almost certain to get the night off Friday against the Cleveland Indians. Caleb Joseph would start in his place.

Wieters is slashing .294/.336/.459 with 4 home runs and a .345 wOBA in 116 plate appearances this season. His current 25.0 strikeout percentage would be a new career worst.
