Washington's Stephen Strasburg fans 11, dominates Mets
Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg whiffed 11 batters while allowing two runs across 6 2/3 frames in Tuesday's 7-4 victory over the New York Mets.
Strasburg had six strikeouts and a perfect game going when Asdrubal Cabrera took him deep with one out in the fourth inning. He allowed one more run -- and the bullpen stranded a couple runners for him in the seventh -- but it was another terrific performance for Strasburg.
Through 67 2/3 innings this year, he owns a 2.70 SIERA, 6.7 percent walk rate and a career-best 32.0 percent strikeout rate. Strasburg will try to keep it going on Sunday versus the St. Louis Cardinals.
