Red Sox activate Joe Kelly from 15-day disabled list
Boston Red Sox right-handed pitcher Joe Kelly was activated from the 15-day disabled list.
He'll return to the club's starting rotation on Saturday against the Cleveland Indians. Kelly was brutal in his first three starts (9.35 ERA) before a shoulder impingement landed him on the disabled list, but looked strong on his minor league rehab assignment. He still isn't worth using in most fantasy formats and should be stacked against in daily leagues.
Kelly wasn't able to make it more than five frames in any of his three starts this season, pitching just 8 2/3 combined innings. He did show his strikeout potential by fanning 11 batters (22.0 strikeout percentage), but he also walked 10 while recording that uninspiring 9.35 ERA. Our models currently project Kelly to record a 5.45 ERA and a 16.80 strikeout percentage across 72 2/3 total innings in 2016.
