Joe Kelly (shoulder) expected to return to Red Sox on Saturday
Boston Red Sox pitcher Joe Kelly (shoulder) is expected to return to the starting rotation on Saturday.
His first start back will come against the Cleveland Indians. Kelly has been out the last four weeks because of a right shoulder impingement. He looked sharp in a rehab start Monday with Triple-A Pawtucket, striking out 10 batters over 6 1/3 scoreless innings, but the right-hander had a 9.35 ERA over his first three outings this season for Boston and can continue being ignored in standard fantasy formats.
Kelly wasn't able to make it more than five frames in any of his three starts this season, pitching just 8 2/3 combined innings. He did show his strikeout potential by fanning 11 batters (22.0 strikeout percentage), but he also walked 10 while recording a 9.35 ERA. Our models currently project Kelly to record a 5.31 ERA and a 17.0 strikeout percentage across 78 total innings in 2016.
