A.J. Pierzynski

A.J. Pierzynski (rest) out of lineup Tuesday

A.J. Pierzynski is getting the night off for the Braves Tuesday against the Dodgers. Ryan Lavarnway will bat eighth and play catcher in his place.

What It Means:

It's a regular day of rest for the veteran catcher, who doesn't do well against lefties (.291 wOBA vs. lefties compared to .331 vs. righties), and is facing a tough one in Brett Anderson. As for Lavarnway, he's hitting .313/.450/.500 against lefties this season (in just 16 at-bats), but has a more realistic .291 wOBA against them for his career. He's not a fantastic option but if you want to punt the catcher position in daily fantasy, he's not a bad guy to do it with as he at least has the lefty/righty matchup in his favor.
