Manny Machado now at shortstop for Orioles on Tuesday
Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado is starting at shortstop on Tuesday against the New York Yankees.
What It Means:
Machado was originally penciled in at third base, but the O's have decided to let him play short with Ryan Flaherty covering the hot corner. Machado should get regular starts at shortstop while J.J. Hardy recovers from a small fracture in his left foot.
Machado is off to a hot start this season, slashing .350/.404/.660 with 7 home runs and a .450 wOBA, which ranks fourth. Our models currently project him to post a .363 wOBA with 24 home runs over the remaining course of the season. He'll have even more fantasy value once he earns enough starts at shortstop to qualify there.
