Dodgers place catcher A.J. Ellis placed on 15-day DL
A.J. Ellis has been placed on the 15-day DL with knee inflammation.
What It Means:
That makes two injured Dodger catchers. Yasmani Grandal is out today with a jaw injury. Austin Barnes will start for the Dodgers behind the plate.
A.J. Ellis was a clear downgrade from Grandal with his .289 wOBA and -0.21 nERD. Our projections have Ellis' wOBA going all the way down to .264 for the remainder of the season. Barnes only has six big league plate appearances this season but was hitting .304/.385/.484 with a .383 wOBA in Triple-A.
