Paul Goldschmidt grabbing seat Thursday for St. Louis
St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt is not in the starting lineup for Thursday afternoon's series finale against left-hander Brett Anderson and the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Cardinals have been resting some regulars after clinching a playoff spot earlier in the week. Matt Carpenter is covering first base and batting seventh Thursday afternoon. Nolan Arenado is returning to the lineup to play third base and bat cleanup.
numberFire's models project Carpenter for 8.1 FanDuel points on Thursday and he has a $2,000 salary. Anderson is registering a 14.4 strikeout percentage this season with an xwOBA that ranks in the bottom 7% of the league.
